Privacy Policy

What data this site touches, who else is involved, and how to opt out.

This privacy policy explains what information SoccerAnalytics.net ("the site") collects when you visit, why, and what choices you have. It applies to https://socceranalytics.net and its subpages. "We" below means SoccerAnalytics.net and its owner; how the site is run is described on how this site is made.

The short version

SoccerAnalytics.net is a content website. There is no account to create, and we don't knowingly collect personal information beyond what's needed to serve pages, understand aggregate traffic, and show advertising. The main third parties that may set cookies are the advertising and analytics providers described below.

Information collected

  • Information you give me. If you email us, we receive your name, email address and message. We use them only to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence. There is no contact form, newsletter sign-up or comment box on this site — email is the only way to send us anything.
  • Automatically collected technical data. Like virtually all websites, the web server records standard log data (IP address, browser type, referring page, date and time) for security and reliability. This is ordinary server housekeeping, kept on the server the site runs on and not shared.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. The site itself sets no cookies. It uses a single browser localStorage value to remember your light/dark theme preference, and that value never leaves your device. Additional cookies may be set by the third-party services below.

Advertising & Google AdSense

The site is funded by display advertising through Google AdSense. In connection with that advertising:

  • Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third party's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (US) or Your Online Choices (EU).
  • Where required by law, ads are served through a consent mechanism (Google's certified Consent Management Platform), and in regions covered by the GDPR you are asked for consent before personalised ad cookies are set. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), measurement ID G-MLWBHEEK56, to understand aggregate, non-identifying traffic patterns — for example, which articles are read and roughly where visitors come from. GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses, and we have not enabled Google Signals or advertising features within it, so it is not used to build advertising profiles of individuals. GA4 may set first-party cookies (for example _ga) to distinguish repeat visitors. We do not sell analytics data.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. For more on how Google handles this data, see Google's privacy policy.

Third parties involved

  • Web hosting. The site is a set of static files served by Microsoft IIS on a Windows server the owner administers. There is no content delivery network, no application server and no database in front of it; the server's own logs are the only hosting-side record of your visit.
  • Google AdSense for advertising, as described above.
  • Google Analytics 4 for aggregate traffic measurement, as described above.
  • Google Fonts to load the typefaces used on the site; your browser requests font files from Google's servers, which may log the request.

Each third party operates under its own privacy policy, and we are not responsible for their practices. Nothing else on this site talks to a third-party service: there is no form provider, no email marketing platform, no embedded video, no social widget and no tracking pixel beyond the two Google tags named above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Under the EU/UK GDPR you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold, and you can object to certain processing. Under the California CCPA/CPRA you can request disclosure or deletion of personal information and opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" (we do not sell personal information). To exercise any of these rights, email contact@socceranalytics.net and we'll respond within a reasonable period.

Children

This site publishes statistical analysis of professional football for a general adult audience — long-form explainers on expected goals, pressing metrics and forecasting models. It is not directed at children, contains nothing designed to appeal to them, and is not a mixed-audience site under Google's definitions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes — for instance if a new third-party service is ever added. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date below. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
